See the types and frequency of treatment systems in Iowa
Get more information about how to reduce your energy and operating costs
Where does the information in WW-CAT come from?
The Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities conducted a survey of Iowa water and wastewater treatment systems to collect information on energy consumption and itemized costs in 2000. The database in WW-CAT contains information from 379 water and 351 wastewater utilities in Iowa.
Are there any cautions to using the information from WW-CAT?
Yes. You should keep several things in mind when using WW-CAT:
This tool is intended to provide general guidance on energy and treatment costs and should not be used to set rates.
For some treatment categories, the number of systems included is too small for statistical comparison. You may not be able to draw any general conclusions from such a small sample.
Labor costs are included for information purposes, but cities differ in how they allocate personnel costs and utilities.
